1 Philippians 2:1-16 "How Church Members Live in a World Full of Sin and Imperfectons"

This message is twofold: time is spent describing the problem--our spiritual warfare-- and two, how we as Christians can overcome our discontent, grumbling and complaining in our lives and particularly in the church.

Spiritual Depression Chapter 18 "In God's Gymnasium"

This message is a continuation of sorts from last week's where the topic was Chastening. The text being focused on is this: "Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful, nevertheless, afterwards it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it." So here we find that we are in training by God, that He brings us the exact chastening we need to prepare us for the heavenly kingdom; so we need to run the course set out for us with endurance considering Christ. In this message we see how we are exercised by chastening so that we will not grow weary and faint.

2 Samuel 19

In this particular message we see the grief of David over his son, Absalom's, death. Through this grief we can learn many lessons and through the interactions of David and Joab we learn of the spiritual condition of David.

Philippians 1:21-30 "Joy in Suffering"

In this sermon by Dr. Fred Malone we focus on the words of Paul: "For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His sake." We do not have to be undone when sufferings come. According to Paul, and Jesus Christ we should expect them, so get ready. We are reminded in this sermon to face suffering with joy and with the knowledge that God's grace is sufficient to handle anything. May we be encouraged by being reminded by the promises found in the scriptures.

Spiritual Depression Chapter 17 "Chastening"

In this lesson, Mitch Axsom discusses the reasons for the need of chastening for the Christians. Learning about the scriptural reasons for chastening gives the Christian hope and encouragement and fixes our eyes on Christ. Without this understanding of trials and chastening can bring on depression--so though it may seem that this topic can bring depression take the time to understand.

Philippians 1:12-20 "Persevering in the Faith in any Circumstances"

This sermon, by Dr. Fred Malone, wraps up the first chapter of Philippians with three thoughts: Paul trusted in God's sovereignty, Paul learned to rejoice always and Paul exhorted the Christians to live the same way.

Spiritual Depression Chapter 16 "Trials"

We can get out of balance if we focus on our trials and not on Christ. We need to remember that God is faithful and will keep us. We are children of God who will suffer in this life but don't forget we are also heirs with Christ. This light affliction cannot compare to the glories that we will have in heaven. So in order to conquer depression we need to accept that there will be pain, trial, sorrows and sickness. Rest in knowing that God has a purpose for our trials--to make us more like Christ. Be encouraged. Trials are only for a season, we have a living hope, and God will be glorified, honored and praised through our trials.

1 Philippians 1:9-11 "Growing in Personal Righteousness"

In this particular sermon Fred Malone gives 4 means that God has given Christians to pursue personal righteousness: the bible, prayer, the church and fellowship.

2 Samuel 17

David's life continues be followed by the consequences of his sinful behavior, yet God preserved the throne of David. He kept His promise to David even though David was not faithful. David has now left Jerusalem with Absalom taking over the city as King. Fred Malone continues to look at the mini-portraits of the men surrounding Absalom and David. He looks at their characters. May we glean from these portraits lessons for our own lives.

Spiritual Depression Chapter 15 "Discipline"

Using 2 Peter 1..."for who lacks these things becomes: blind, short sighted, forgetting that you were purged from sins, forgetting you might stumble, you become useless and unfruitful." As Christians we have need to apply diligence and energy to gain virtue, knowledge, self control, perseverence, godliness, brotherly kindness and love.
