This book teaches us that God is gracious. It shows us that God is merciful to hard hearted sinners. It is a story about God's missionary heart: he was not only saving Israelites, he was saving the Ninevites. Jonah is a book about the gospel.

In these verses we learn about conversion and evangelism. We see the appeal of Jesus to the Samaritan Woman and the evidences of her conversion. We see what the heart of evangelism looks like and we are encouraged to be evangelists like Jesus Christ.
